Students stand in line on the campus of the University of North Florida, from noon until 4:15 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2012, for tickets to see President Obama in Jacksonville, Fla.

President Obama’s team collected “Gotta Vote,” @gottavote.org, pledge cards with mailing information from each adult in line and used photo ID cards for verification as they assigned a ticket to each person.

Approximately 50 people, who were last in line, were wait-listed to be notified where they could pick up tickets. In all, around 4,500 tickets were given out at four locations in Jacksonville, Fla., for the “FORWARD. 7/15 Jacksonville” event on Thursday July 19, 2012, at the Prime Osborn III Convention Center.

The program will launch later this month, according to the secretary of state’s office.

“Online voter registration has existed in Washington since 2008, but the latest effort to increase voter participation is designed for users who already have a Facebook account.”
